Make an explicit assumption
Choose a relationship, suppose it is true, and keep its consequences separate from confirmed notes. Reject it only when it cannot satisfy the established grid and all written clues.
A checkable contradiction
Expert explanations include the assumption, the number of compatible arrangements and each clue that removes possibilities until none remain. Tier 4 means this solver needs a counterfactual; it does not mean every human must solve in the same way.
