Beginner’s starting guide · Choosing a puzzle for a focused break
Before and immediately-before clues refer only to the category explicitly labelled as ordered. Test the possible positions at each end: a later item cannot occupy the first position, and an exact gap must fit both items.
When two items share exactly two remaining choices, those choices are reserved between them. Eliminate them from everyone else, then return to ordinary row and column scans. Hard puzzles need a tier 3 rule.
